Chief Akpa Paul Hassan is a distinguished Nigerian chartered accountant, seasoned university administrator, accomplished scholar, and respected community leader with nearly three decades of professional experience spanning public sector finance, higher education administration, and institutional governance.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Accounting, a Master of Science degree in Accounting and Finance, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). His academic foundation includes the National Diploma in Financial Studies and Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from The Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State; a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance from Nasarawa State University, Keffi; and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Accounting from the Nigeria College of Accountancy, Jos.


Professionally, Chief Akpa is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (FCNA), Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACTI), and a Fellow of the African Institute of Public Administration (FAIPA), Ghana.
He served meritoriously as Bursar of the Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State, from 4 May 2020 to 4 May 2025, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening financial systems, enhancing accountability, and supporting institutional growth and stability. In recognition of his exemplary service, competence, and depth of experience, he was appointed on 12 May 2025 as Bursar of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), Benue State, where he currently provides strategic financial leadership to the nation’s specialised health sciences university.

Beyond administration, Chief Akpa is an accomplished scholar with academic and professional contributions in accounting, finance, taxation, and capital market studies, with publications in reputable journals. His leadership excellence and professional integrity have earned him several honours and awards from professional bodies, youth organisations, and community institutions within and outside Nigeria.

In traditional and cultural leadership, he holds the revered title of Omachi Ata’igala-Ika (Waali), reflecting his service, status, and commitment to the values of the Igala Kingdom. He is the Patron of the Coalition of Northern Youth Forum of Nigeria (CNYFN), a pan-Northern youth coalition dedicated to unity, leadership development, and socio-economic empowerment. He also serves as the Kogi State Patron of the National APC Women Advocacy Organisation (NAWA-ORG).

Chief Akpa Paul Hassan is widely regarded as a symbol of integrity, professionalism, and visionary leadership within Nigeria’s university system and public financial management landscape. He hails from Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria, and is married with children.
